Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

The exfoliant that dermatologists actually recommend. BHA (salicylic acid) is oil-soluble, meaning it gets inside the pore itself and dissolves the debris causing blackheads, whiteheads, and congestion. Paula's Choice delivers it at a pH that actually works, in a leave-on formula that outperforms every rinse-off scrub or face wash with salicylic acid. Expensive but worth it for acne-prone and congested skin.
Acne-prone skin, oily skin, visible pores, blackheads, whiteheads, and skin that feels rough or bumpy (often called "strawberry skin"). Works well for the back and chest too.
Apply on clean, dry skin after toner. Soak a cotton pad and swipe gently over the face, or apply a few drops directly and press in. Leave on — do not rinse. Use once daily to start (nighttime recommended), and increase to twice daily only if your skin tolerates it well. Always use SPF the next morning — exfoliants increase sun sensitivity.
This is an active acid — start slowly (every other night) and build up. Combining with other acids (AHAs, glycolic) or retinol in the same step can cause irritation. Not suitable for dry or dehydrated skin without solid moisturization. At $35 for 4oz, it's a premium price — but the bottle lasts 4-6 months with daily use.
